5 Point Check List
FindLocation.com: Five Point Checklist for Maximum Results

Your most crucial web visitors are the ones who already plan to do business with you. They just need to know the best place to find you. With findlocation.com, you already have the tools to provide quick, accurate answers for your customers.

The following are five absolutely essential – and remarkably simple - things you can do to make your locator solution work for your customers. And, not coincidently, let you achieve the optimal return on your locator investment. Examples are given for each point. Click to see a larger image or go to the website.

1. Position findlocation.com prominently on website.

If your customers can’t find your locater solution, they aren’t going to find your stores! Place the locator on your home page in the top level navigation. Even better than a simple link is an actual search box on the home page. It doesn’t take much real estate and you will see usage rise dramatically. From there, your customers can do a quick search to get instant results or click for more advanced search options.

2.“Nearest Search” must be set as the default.

Never, never let your locator return a blank result. Setting “Nearest Search” as the default will always return a location regardless of distance. Let your customer decide whether to make the trip, call the store, or order online. Although commonly used, “Radius Search” is not recommended because your customers can become frustrated by the repeated searches needed to find a store within the selected radius.

3. Use “Select Lists” to refine results.

If your business carries multiple product or service lines, your customers can easily become frustrated trying to find a store that stocks just the item needed. Findlocation.com allows you to sort results not only by geography but also by type of good or service. Take advantage of this technology and show your customers that you respect their time and want to provide the best possible service.

4. Keep the results pages focused.

The sole focus of the search results page is to list your stores closest to a ready customer. Strip the page of advertising, links, or anything that might be distracting. Provide just the necessary information to make a choice. From there your customer can click for a map and store information.

The mapping page is an excellent place to provide more details such as phone numbers, store hours, coupons, etc. Be sure to provide any details helpful to your customer. You don’t want a prospect to come this close to making a purchase and then be turned away for lack of information. A link for printing the map or driving directions is crucial. Even better is a link to send directions to a cell phone or other mobile device.

On both pages, in a prominent location, provide a new search box in case the customer would like to start over.

5. Take advantage of cleaner technology.

Avoid pop ups since they are frequently blocked by a user’s browser. You can obtain a simpler, cleaner result using iframes. The findlocation.com code is simply imbedded in your website’s frame. The result requires far less maintenance. In addition, your customers won’t have the impression of leaving your website when using findlocation.com.

Code is available to imbed in iframes. Email support to get yours or call (406)922-3540.
